This class will explore the use of advanced digital camera tools and techniques with high-end digital cameras that are capable of manual operation (e.g. dSLR and newer Four-Thirds system cameras). It is designed for those digital photographers who want to enhance their skills and abilities to produce high quality creative photographs beyond the basic “snapshot” type photo. Through the use of video training materials, lecture, demonstration and hands on assignments, students will be challenged to use their cameras in new and more creative ways. Upon the completion of the course students will be able to use all of the controls available on their cameras to take high quality photographs of a variety of subjects in all kinds of shooting conditions. Week One: - Getting Acquainted - Review of Basic Camera Controls - Advanced Camera Settings - Using the Manual Exposure Mode - First Assignment Week Two: - Review of First Assignment - Getting the Correct Exposure (Metering, Exposure Compensation, Bracketing) - Custom White Balance - Selecting Focal Points - Choosing ISO Settings - Composition - Second Assignment Week Three: - Review of Second Assignment - Achieving Camera Stability - Shooting in Raw - Special Shooting Situations and Subjects (Portraits, Landscape, Sports and Action, Macro) - Third Assignment Final Wrap-up
